Just About Leading

This single day course includes a supplementary individual coaching/mentoring session and teaches the practical fundamentals of leadership.

The day begins with running successful meetings and tackling making supervisions effective, leading into exploring how to manage change within a team. The course concludes by addressing the "difficult conversations" that leaders have to have from time to time and how best to deliver them.

This course covers:
  • Setting up and leading team or project meeting.
  • Why have supervisions, how often, and what format and content
  • Two models of change and the five key things you must do to make change work.
  • Discussion about difficult conversations (to have them or not) and the implications
  • How to prepare, deliver and follow up difficult conversations effectively.

You will learn how to:
  • Run meetings successfully 
  • Understand how to make supervisions effective
  • Understand how change impacts on people and what steps you can take to make changes successfully.
  • Learn techniques to prepare for difficult conversations, to deliver them well and to appropriately follow up.

If you line manage other staff or volunteers you will find the content covered in this course beneficial. Course content is appropriate for front line managers, middle managers and senior managers.

This course is both a stand alone course and a useful follow up to the Just About Managing programme.
