the course was aimed at staff and volunteers who work in the Wellbeing section of the organisation which arranges for Volunteers to act as befrienders or mentors to a wide range of people both in the wider community and also living in sheltered accommodation at Witton Lodge.
The main aim of the project is to help combat social isolation and help empower the clients to develop themselves.
The staff had identified that boundaries had blurred in some cases as befrienders moved into being best friends and create dependency relationships rather than friendly support. In some cases volunteers had a tendency to talk about their clients in inappropriate settings and it was felt an outside organisation could point out the need and how volunteers need to behave if they are do be good ambassadors for the organisation and also be good befrinders.xxx
